Sweet Princess Buttercup was found cold and alone on the streets of Philadelphia weighing only four pounds! This beauty was quickly taken in to foster care and had her initial veterinary appointments where it was determined she needed to gain some weight before they could spay her. While only 5 days away from her "spay day", she developed a fever and stopped eating. The emergency veterinarian diagnosed her with pyometra, a life-threatening infection of the uterus that can develop in unspayed female cats. Her life-saving surgery and accompanying care is $2309. She has recovered and is happy in foster care.

Princess Buttercup recovering in the hospital after surgery
Ophelia started off life like many of our kittens, homeless and sick. Her littermates all recovered from their initial upper respiratory infections, but Ophelia seemed to lag behind. Her siblings thrived in foster care, but Ophelia wasn't getting better and wasn't gaining weight and growing like her siblings. After extensive bloodwork and testing, it was determined that Ophelia has feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). Treatment is long (at least 84 days) and involves a lot of supportive care. We estimate that her ongoing care will be approximately $1800.
