Sunshine Foundation

A nonprofit organization

You can help Sunshine Foundation answer the dream of a Delaware County child with severe healthcare needs!

Sunshine Foundation answers dreams to children with lifelong severe chronic illnesses and conditions such as: level 3 severe autism, Down syndrome, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, severe epilepsy, Sickle Cell Disease, blindness, deafness, trauma from abuse, and many others.

Asiyahfrom Folcroft diagnosed with Double Outlet Right Ventricle, is dreaming of a Special Dream family trip to Nickelodeon Resort! (Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) is a congenital heart defect in which both major arteries—the aorta and pulmonary artery—connect to the right ventricle instead of each connecting to its respective ventricle).

"Asiyah is a vibrant and resilient girl who doesn't let her medical conditions hold her back from enjoying life. This past year, she spent a great deal of time in the hospital undergoing two major surgeries. She is dreaming of a special trip to the Nickelodeon Resort as a much needed break to allow her to simply be a kid."

The most common request is a Magical Dream to visit Universal Studios, Disney World, Legoland Florida, and SeaWorld, while staying at the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village near Disney in Central Florida. Magical Dreams cost $5,500 on average.

Sunshine Foundation also answers Special Dreams: shopping sprees, computers and iPads, bedroom makeovers, outdoor playsets, above ground swimming pools, family trips, cruises, adaptive tricycles and other special needs equipment, plus many more. These dreams average $2,200 each.

To make these dreams a reality for children that may be turned away from other wish-granting organizations that require a life-threatening or critical diagnosis, Sunshine Foundation relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and corporations.

Sunshine Foundation answers the dreams of children, ages three through eighteen, who have severe or profound physical/developmental/intellectual challenges or trauma from physical/sexual abuse, and whose families have limited income. Since 1976, Sunshine Foundation has spread Sunshine into the lives of more than 44,000 children.

Celebrating 50 Years of answering children's dreams! Proud to be the Top-Rated Wish-Granting Organization in the United States with a perfect 100% 4-Star Rating on Charity Navigator and an "A" Rating on CharityWatch!
