Support DELCO's Great Good Place!

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg’s 1989 book "The Great Good Place" introduced third places as important social spaces beyond home and work for balance. Many years ago, The Woman's Club of Media saw the value of such a place in their community and in 1901 founded our Library. Just as we honor our history, we are equally committed to reaching and celebrating milestones as we look ahead. Help us to sustain our future and yours, together.

Libraries are vital and invaluable third places – and the Media-Upper Providence Free Library has always been and continues to be a Great Good Place.

FRIDAY, MAY 9 at 1:00 PM

Join us for a very special screening of Free for All: The Public Library.

Free to the public in our Media-Upstairs Theater and discussion after the movie.

How public libraries shaped the country and continue to be a sanctuary for Americans everywhere.

Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today’s librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.
