Community Center

The first and only LGBTQIA+ community center in Delco!

Help UDTJ Raise $5,000 This Delco Gives Day

The UDTJ Community Center exists because Delco deserves spaces where people are seen, supported, connected, and cared for all year long.

Opened in February 2024, the UDTJ Community Center has quickly become a vital community hub for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, youth, and marginalized residents across Delaware County. From our home in Upper Darby, near one of the region’s busiest transit corridors, we help connect people to resources, build community, reduce isolation, and create safer spaces for people who too often fall through the cracks.

Our work is simple, but deeply needed: "We become the resources we wish we had growing up."

Through UDTJ, community members can access free and low-cost programming, peer support, youth events, resource referrals, community outreach, advocacy, arts programming, and safe social spaces where people can show up as themselves. We host Safe Space Socials for youth and adults, support groups, recovery-centered programming, community resource events, mural arts programming, outreach days, hygiene and resource distribution, and spaces where people can build friendships, leadership skills, and confidence.

"I have never, in my long life, been in a more accepting safe space. Watching how comfortable people, scared or unseen people, feel in this place is almost magical." - Event Participant

We also founded Delco Pride, one of the most visible and important LGBTQIA+ celebrations in Delaware County. Delco Pride is more than a festival or parade. It is a statement that LGBTQIA+ people, families, youth, elders, artists, performers, small businesses, and allies belong in Delco and shouldn't have to travel hours for their basic resources and needs. It brings people together Delco across towns, neighborhoods, identities, and generations to celebrate pride, safety, joy, and visibility right here in Delco.

But this work does not happen without community support.

This year, UDTJ is working to raise $5,000 through Delco Gives Day to help keep our programs accessible, welcoming, and community-centered. Your donation helps us cover the real costs behind the work: food for youth and community events, supplies for programming, outreach materials, hygiene and basic needs items, event costs, insurance, space, transportation support, volunteer coordination, and the many small expenses that make a huge difference for the people we serve.

A gift to UDTJ is not just a donation to one program... It is an investment in a whole system that promotes a stronger, more inclusive Delaware County.

  • It helps a young person find a safe place to spend time after school.
  • It helps an LGBTQIA+ neighbor find community instead of isolation.
  • It helps a person in recovery feel supported instead of judged.
  • It helps local artists, organizers, and volunteers build something lasting.
  • It helps new organizations and community groups reach vulnerable populations.
  • It helps keep Delco Pride free, visible, and rooted in the community.
  • It helps UDTJ keep showing up when people need us most.

We are proud of how much has been built in such a short time, but we are also honest about the need. Small grassroots organizations like ours do a lot with very little. We stretch every dollar. We rely on volunteers, community partners, small businesses, neighbors, and donors who believe that local support matters.

This Delco Gives Day, we are asking you to be part of that village.

Please make a donation of any size to help us reach our $5,000 goal. Whether you give $10, $25, $50, $100, or more, your support directly helps UDTJ continue serving the people who count on us. Every donor matters, every gift helps, and every share brings more people into this work.

And there is one more way you can help that costs nothing but your time.

Join UDTJ at the Delco Gives Day Finale on Thursday, May 7 at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex in Chester. We are asking our community to show up from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM dressed in rainbow gear, Pride shirts, Pride flags, bright colors, and anything that helps us celebrate Pride early. If enough of us show up, UDTJ could win a $2,500 prize, which would make a major difference for Delco Pride and our community programming this year.

You do not have to donate to attend. You do not have to stay all night. Just show up, bring your energy, wear your rainbows, and help us prove how strong this community really is.

Delco Gives Day is about more than raising money. It is about investing in your neighbors who dedicate their all to helping each other.
