For more than 59 years, our world-class scientists have produced groundbreaking research that drives real change — from improving tree survival rates from 20% to over 85%, to shaping USDA guidelines for streamside forest restoration. This work protects drinking water, reduces flooding, supports wildlife, and builds climate resilience.

Since 1967, Stroud Water Research Center has been a global leader in freshwater science. Throughout Lancaster County we're working with partnering organizations in our streams and rivers to bring hands-on environmental education to classrooms, and bring research to life as we plant trees, help monitor our waterways, and empower communities to protect clean water for all. 

We partner with environmental nonprofits and volunteers to monitor streams, rivers, and creeks in your neighborhoods. 

We provide technical support, guidance, experience, and sometimes even equipment to ensure their water quality data are high-quality and reliable.
