Radnor, A Better Chance, Inc.

A Better Chance, Inc. is a Nationally recognized 501(c)(3) organization which develops future leaders by providing minority high school students who show strong academic and leadership potential and are from underserved communities, with a home away from home while attending Radnor High School.  During the school year, the Scholars live away from their families and reside in two houses on the same property in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with supervision by resident directors and resident tutors.  The Scholars mostly come from the East Coast and currently include Scholars from New York, Baltimore/D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago and Atlanta.  Radnor ABC provides the needed access to educational opportunities, a supportive community, network building with others of all races, and the chance to break the chains of systemic racism by providing an opportunity to become equal participants in our society.  Although Radnor ABC currently supports 10 Scholars across 9th through 12th grade, the downstream impacts these Scholars have year after year is significant, and each takes the impact of the program with them everywhere they go for the rest of their life.  50 plus years of existence with approximately 130 alumni, Radnor ABC’s impact reaches well into the thousands. 

We can't do it without support from our local community. Monetary contributions help to pay for special programming, extracurricular activity fees, SAT/ACT test prep sessions, house/personal amenities, college tours and so much more.

Some of the ways you can volunteer for Radnor ABC are as follows:

-Become an academic mentor; tutor or help with navigating the college application process

-Drive the Scholars to and from extracurricular activities

-Prepare and deliver meals to the Radnor ABC home

-Assist at the house with painting, cleaning, yard work, and light repairs

-Join a committee such as: academics; fundraising; and facilities
