Serving Our Community Since 1916

For more than a century, Newtown Square Fire Company has stood at the heart of our community — neighbors protecting neighbors.

Founded in 1916 by AT&T workers safeguarding critical communication lines, our mission began with a simple promise: when something goes wrong, we show up. That promise still defines us today.

We remain proudly volunteer-led, supported by a small team of professional firefighters to ensure rapid response. Together, we serve Newtown and Willistown Townships and provide mutual aid across Delaware and Chester Counties.

Always Ready. Always There.

Day or night, we answer the call.

From house fires and vehicle rescues to medical emergencies, downed wires, and even pet rescues — no call is too small when someone needs help.

But our work doesn’t stop at emergencies. We teach fire prevention in our schools, support local events, and bring our community together — from safety education to holiday traditions.

We don’t just respond. We protect, educate, and serve.

The Real Cost of Protection

Delivering professional-level emergency services requires constant investment:

  • Maintaining and replacing fire apparatus

  • Equipping rescue vehicles and tools

  • Providing protective gear for firefighters

  • Staffing for faster response times

  • Training for today’s complex emergencies

Outfitting one firefighter with the gear that keeps them safe and ready costs around $35,000.

And when the alarm sounds, each response costs more than $1,000 — before we even arrive on scene.

Our volunteers help keep costs down — saving taxpayers millions — but essential funding gaps remain.

Powered by You

Nearly half of our budget comes from township support and grants. The rest depends on community donations.

Our members and auxiliary work tirelessly to raise funds — through drives, events, and partnerships — but we cannot do it alone.

We exist because our community believes in us.

Our Impact

In 2025, Newtown Square Fire Company answered 706 emergency calls, providing critical protection to our community around the clock. These calls reflect the wide range and urgency of incidents we manage every day:

  • 481 calls during daytime hours, when volunteer availability is most challenged

  • 89 building fires and 293 automatic alarms, safeguarding lives and property

  • 76 vehicle incidents, including 17 rescues requiring extrication

  • 33 natural gas leaks and 38 electrical hazards, preventing serious threats

  • 52 EMS assists and dozens of additional urgent service calls

Equally vital to every response is the work of our Fire Police, who ensure scenes remain safe and controlled:

  • 229 Fire Police incidents, with an average of 3 responders per call

  • Managing traffic control, securing emergency scenes, and protecting both responders and the public

Behind every call is an extraordinary level of commitment:

  • 22,639 volunteer hours donated, saving taxpayers over $577,000 annually

  • 26 training events to maintain professional-level readiness

  • 15 community events, supporting prevention and public engagement

Most importantly, through all of this — zero firefighter injuries in 2025.

This level of service depends on continued investment in equipment, training, and readiness. Your support ensures we can respond safely, quickly, and effectively — every time our community calls.

100% committed. 100% local.
