Mission

At Media Food Bank @ First Church, we are dedicated to nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of those we serve, addressing food insecurity with a holistic approach rooted in Compassion, Community, Dignity, and Sustainability. Embracing our diverse human family, we aim to empower individuals through nourishment and education, fostering a future where everyone thrives in harmony.

Our Impact

Since our founding in 1995, Media Food Bank @ First Church has been a cornerstone in Delaware County:

• over 55,000 individuals face food insecurity in Delaware County
• more than 20,000 of those individuals are children
• we serve approximately 220 families per week

During the first quarter of 2026 we served 2,411 families and distributed approximately 96,000 pounds of food at our twice weekly distributions. Our volunteers put in over 3,300 hours. You are invited to stay up to date with activities and events on our Facebook page.

The Food Bank began the first quarter by displaying an ice sculpture in a popular annual event called "Ice on State."Our display was viewed by a community journalist which led to a featured news story on Channel 6 - ABC News. Food distribution:

Thursdays: 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Sundays: 1:00 - 2:00 PM

We provide fresh produce from our community partners and our own garden  More than 75 volunteers per week

Our Community Choice room provides alternatives in everyday staple items 
Rain or shine, we are here for food distribution

We provide families with essential food items, contributing to the well-being and stability of our community.

Additionally, we distribute essential everyday items such as soap, shampoo, diapers, pads, paper products, and laundry detergent.

Our treasurer, Pete, weighs all the food that is distributed weekly to each family

In addition to cash donations, the Media Food Bank @ First Church accepts in-kind donations.
