Why Our Work Matters

Children don't have the power to change their environment or buy the resources they need to learn, grow, and thrive. But when caring adults make it their mission to help kids get what they need to stay safe, healthy, and informed, youth achievement soars. This year, Launch of Philadelphia is celebrating 40 years of impact working with children, parents, schools and communities to strengthen the foundation for youth success. 

How We Help

• Launch programs include services to Teen Parents that help pregnant and parenting youth meet the challenges of pre-natal care, birth, and infant development. We help these teen stay in school, graduate, learn to be good parents, and build the skills they need to find jobs in the regional workforce. 
• The Launch Southwest Peace Project teaches middle school children the skills they need to manage and avoid conflict. While mastering techniques to calm the mind and make good choices, they also learn to cook using nutritious foods that promote healthy physical development. Parent nights bring the whole family together to join in activities that increase good communication at home. 
• Our Out of School Time program teaches early childhood literacy skills to kids in elementary and middle school. The Launch OST program works with local educators, businesses, and organizations to create a strong safety net for children as they grow and learn. 
• Launch and its partners created the first Information Technology apprenticeship program registered with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Now this award-winning program is expanding by adding a new apprenticeship program in AI and Cybersecurity.
