The Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is one of the oldest community orchestras in the Greater Philadelphia area. Founded in 1946  in Lansdowne, we have been performing at the Upper Darby High School Performing Arts Center Drexel Hill for more than 20 years. Our talented musicians come from all walks of life and all share a deep love and appreciation for music.

We perform five concerts each season, from November to May. The repertoire includes orchestral music from the Baroque through contemporary classics, including time-honored favorites and interesting rarities. The orchestra has recorded several CD's featuring compositions by American and women composers.

The orchestra supports young musicians in many ways. Our December concert includes the 200+ member Upper Darby High School Concert Choir, performing holiday and culminating in the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. The Irving Ludwig Music Competition selects an outstanding youth soloist who wins an opportunity to perform a concerto with the orchestra. Additionally, the orchestra provides free and discounted tickets to students to encourage their interest in classical music.
