The Need

Teen girls are facing an unprecedented mental health crisis right in our own backyards. In Pennsylvania alone, staggering statistics reveal the urgency of our mission:

• 80% of high school girls report their mental health is not good (1.5x higher than boys).
• 45% feel sad or depressed.
• 43% think they are "no good".

Traditional educational models often lack the specialized socio-emotional support required to help young women navigate these complex challenges.

The Solution: Girls Spark

Founded in 2018 by and for teen girls, Girls Spark is the only nonprofit in the Delaware Valley devoted exclusively to creating safe, supportive, and empowering educational programs for girls ages 11 to 18.

Through our unique youth-driven, expert-led model, we bring industry professionals, business owners, and expert speakers directly to teens. Whether through our Annual Summit, Girl Talk Workshops, or our rapidly expanding Girls Spark Ignite School Clubs, all of our workshop topics are vetted and chosen by teens themselves. This ensures the content is highly relevant to the real-world social issues they face today.

It Works! Your Impact

Research from the U.S. Department of Education shows that socio-emotional learning (SEL) programs for adolescent girls result in a 50% decrease in anxiety and a 70% increase in self-esteem.

Since 2018, Girls Spark has engaged over 3,047 girls across the region, conducting over 126 workshops and expanding to 12 school clubs.
