Why we're here
The Delco Skatepark Coalition is on a mission to bring all-wheels, adaptive, ADA-forward, and inclusive skateparks to Delaware County — places where everyone gets to ride.
When we say "skatepark," we don't just mean skateboards. We mean scooters, rollerblades, rollerskates, BMX, mountain bikes, wheelchairs — if it rolls, it belongs.
And when we say "ADA-forward," we mean more than a ramp at the entrance. We mean designing parks where people of every ability — visible disabilities, invisible ones, and everything in between — can actually use the space. Not just access it. Use it. Enjoy it. Belong in it.
How we got rolling
Our crew came together in 2020, when the pandemic made one thing painfully clear: kids needed ways to stay active, creative, and connected outside of organized sports — and Delco didn't have nearly enough of them.
Skating, scootering, blading, biking — these are the kinds of activities where kids get to challenge themselves, build confidence, and have a blast on their own terms. Solo or with friends. Daily or once in a while. We saw the gap. We decided to do something about it.
What we're building right now
We're fundraising for Pennsylvania's very first adaptive, all-wheels skatepark — coming to Observatory Field in Upper Darby, just off West Chester Pike.
It'll be the first skatepark in the entire Philadelphia region with adaptive features built in from day one. That's not a small thing. That's history.
We're beyond fired up to be partnering with Upper Darby on this forward-thinking project — and even more fired up that you're here, reading this, ready to be part of it.
Let's build it together.
