Discover How Farming Fueled Freedom

Astride the banks of Ridley Creek, Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead stretches across 112 acres of living history. Here, in the shadow of King George’s rule, where farmers once toiled and ideas of freedom began to take root, the true story of early America unfolds—not through statues or textbooks, but through sweat, soil, and survival. While the tales of Washington, Franklin, and Jefferson are etched into our national memory, it was the everyday colonist—the rural Pennsylvanian farmer—who built the foundation of our country. Since its founding, the Farmstead has never been just a museum. It’s a community—a gathering place for those who believe that history is best understood not by looking at it, but by stepping into it. Today, staff and volunteers carry forward this vision by offering immersive experiences that invite visitors to do, not just see. Visitors of all ages can connect deeply to the past—through the act of living it.

We invite you to be a part of this living legacy. Bring your family. Lend a hand. Support a space where history breathes—and where future generations can experience the power of the past.
