CityTeam

A nonprofit organization

Cityteam aims to meet people exactly where they are and offer them support to help stabilize their lives. We serve families facing housing and food insecurity throughout Delaware County with necessities that every person deserves, and we do so with a great deal of care and respect.

CityTeam’s mission is to share Christ’s unconditional and redemptive love by caring for immediate needs and enabling lasting solutions. Cityteam exists to serve the most vulnerable members of our community with grace and dignity. We do so with a multi-faceted approach via our shelter, food, clothing and mother & baby programs.

Cityteam Chester was established in 1988, originally as a food program by a group of concerned local citizens seeing the plight and the need in Chester. Over the years we have grown to encompass a 50 bed men's shelter serving men in need of a second chance as well as men in need of substance abuse recovery, a meal program serving dinner to the community 365 days a year, a fresh produce pantry, a clothing and household items outreach, a mother & baby program distributing diapers, formula, baby food and more, a residential program for graduates of our Men’s programs and a residential program for women and children experiencing housing instability and in need of case management.

Every night we welcome guests for a hot meal that features protein, vegetables, fruit and salad. Our emergency shelter helps to ensure homeless men a number of nights with a warm bed, hot shower and a good meal. Our Men’s Turning Point program welcomes homeless men to reside with us for up to 12 months while they get back on their feet. Our Renew program is a 9-12 month program that incorporates a holistic approach to recovery, the 12 step program, a learning and career center, mental health resources, spiritual & physical well being, case management and career counseling. Our Community Outreach team provides fresh produce, a food pantry and clothing outreach.

Our Mother and Baby program reaches thousands of children each year through our Backpack program, Christmas Sponsor A Child program, Easter Baskets and our Summer Retreat. This program works with over 1,000 low-income households annually. Our goal is to ensure that their children maintain a healthy environment by providing diapers, formula, baby food, strollers, cribs and emotional support to each parent and their children.

Cityteam also makes it a priority to get our entire community involved by offering regular volunteer opportunities each week. This allows thousands of Delaware County residents of all backgrounds to find their place helping their neighbors in need. We're all able to lend a helping hand in some way.
