The Delaware County Intermediate Unit Education Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The Delaware County Education Foundation raises funds to enhance the educational experience of more than 15,000 students served by the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU).

The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides funding for classroom teachers and administrators to enrich student learning through creative approaches, as well as innovative equipment and materials. Although the Foundation supports DCIU students through classroom and program grants, it is a separate entity, independent of DCIU.

Proceeds generated by the Delaware County Education Foundation support programs and services provided by DCIU, which serves all 15 public school districts in Delaware County, as well as charter and nonpublic schools, through a broad range of initiatives. These include special education, Career and Technical Education (CTE), family literacy, and early childhood education. For more than two decades, the Foundation has raised funds to support innovative learning opportunities that are not funded through state or federal sources.

Support of the Foundation has a countywide impact. DCIU programs are shared across schools, allowing resources to be leveraged for the benefit of all students.

The Delaware County Education Foundation supports innovative programs that create meaningful, real-world impact for students. Recent initiatives include the development of a music therapy program for children with autism, helping students build communication, social, and emotional skills through rhythm and movement; a specialized, low-distraction visual learning space at Marple Education Center, providing students with multiple disabilities improved access to instruction through enhanced visual supports; and the expansion of esports opportunities, giving students hands-on experience in STEM while building teamwork and career-ready skills. Looking ahead, the Foundation is funding a multi-site Professional Learning Community for Early Intervention teachers to strengthen instructional consistency and student outcomes, as well as a student-operated café that will equip transition-age students with disabilities with practical job skills and real-world work experience.

Your support is vital to expanding these opportunities and ensuring that every student has access to innovative, high-quality learning experiences that prepare them for success in school and beyond.

Every donation, no matter the size, directly impacts students by providing access to innovative learning experiences, essential resources, and opportunities that would not otherwise be possible.

Join us for Delco Gives on May 6–7 and be part of a county-wide movement to invest in education, empower students, and strengthen our community. Help us continue creating meaningful opportunities for students and families across Delaware County!
