Delco Helping Hands Association

A nonprofit organization

What began as a community Facebook group on January 7, 2018 has quickly blossomed into a nonprofit unlike anything else in the Delaware County, Pennsylvania area.  Delco Helping Hands is officially known by the mission statement: A nonprofit organization with a mission to help Delco families. We provide assistance with baby/children, pets, and adult necessities. We organize community outreaches to help families with holidays and big events in their lives.  Unofficially? Delco Helping Hands has built a community of people from all walks of life - including parents looking for support or guidance, grandparents raising their grandchildren, community members looking to get involved locally, healthcare professionals ready and willing to share professional experiences, community service providers that share their wealth of information, any many other classifications of folks as well.  The Facebook group that started 7 years ago has expanded to over 7,000 members and has allowed a local group of women to jump start this nonprofit to help serve the community.

Delco Helping Hands currently runs a community pantry in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania.  Although Delco Helping Hands might be best known for providing items necessary to raising a child, there are many other items that can be retrieved, as needed, at the community pantry, including (but not limited to) pet food, personal care products, paper goods, cleaning supplies, hygiene necessities, and clothing in a variety of sizes.  Delco Helping Hands is most likely best known for providing items for babies and children due to the hard work that was done during the formula shortage that left so many families struggling to find the food they needed for their babies.  Delco Helping Hands was able to connect HUNDREDS of families with the formula they were unable to find on shelves for their child, OR provide a safe alternative that was approved by the child's pediatrician.  As devastating as the formula shortage was (and sometimes still continues to be), Delco Helping Hands was able to expand during this time, thanks to the efforts of the board members and volunteers who would spend hours of their own time picking up donations, organizing by expiration dates, shelving donations, and distributing to families in need.

The Delco Helping Hands community pantry has been open for a little over a year, where families from all over Delco come to pick up necessities and "shop the tables" of items that were donated throughout the week.  We invite (and encourage) anyone in need to reach out to us through Facebook or email (delcohelpinghands@gmail.com) to let us know how we can assist you and your family.

Disclaimer: Delco Helping Hands does not have a food pantry.  We do not accept nor distribute donations of food.  We also do not provide monetary gifts to families.  We do not provide monetary assistance in any form.
