The Chester Community Improvement Project, Inc. (CCIP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the City of Chester. Founded more than 48 years ago by a dedicated group of community residents, Swarthmore College Lang Scholars, and local ministers from Chester’s West Side, CCIP was created to confront the environmental injustices facing families living near hazardous waste sites.
In 1983, CCIP expanded its mission and restructured as a community housing development organization (CHDO), focusing on the rehabilitation of Chester’s abandoned and distressed housing. Today, our mission is to help revitalize the City of Chester by building the base of homeownership.
We carry out this mission through strong public-private partnerships that support:
CCIP serves low- and moderate-income individuals and families in the City of Chester and throughout Delaware County. We help first-time buyers achieve the dream of homeownership and support existing homeowners so they can remain in their homes and communities.
At CCIP, we are proud to stand by our commitment to “Rebuilding Neighborhoods and Rebuilding Families.”
