At the height of the pandemic, I witnessed the deep impact of isolation on families and young people. Children my daughter’s age were searching for connection, often turning to social media and online spaces where they faced challenges without the tools or support they needed. Like many parents, I wanted to help my child grow into her best self, but I quickly realized that it takes a village. I began listening not only to her, but to other youth navigating anxiety, stress, and conflict shaped by both internal struggles and external pressures. What I heard revealed an urgent need for healthy relationships, dignity, and skills that support peaceful, whole living.

The African philosophy of ubuntu, “I am because we are” deeply resonated with me, reminding me that our humanity is formed through our relationships with one another. As I explored restorative practices in parenting and community life, I saw a path forward—one that emphasizes accountability, empathy, and healing rather than punishment alone. This vision led to the creation of Prodigy Peacebuilders Collaborative (PPC).

Today, PPC works alongside youth and families to turn moments of conflict into opportunities for growth and restoration through restorative justice conferences, social-emotional learning workshops, and community engagement initiatives that foster connection and belonging. Too often, young people are defined by their mistakes instead of being supported to learn and grow from them. We believe every young person deserves dignity, every relationship has the potential for repair, and peace is something that can be practiced and lived out daily.

With your support, we can continue to expand this work—reaching more youth, strengthening families, and building safer, more connected communities. Right now, every gift is matched, doubling your impact and helping us build peace—starting with each of us.
