Food Pantry at Saint James UCC

A nonprofit organization

Respect and Loving Welcome

The Major Food Pantry at Saint James UCC in Havertown provides food and household support to our neighbors with respect and loving welcome. Although the circumstances are different for everyone who comes to Food Pantry, the needs are similar. They receive a bag filled with food, personal items, cleaning products, and sometimes pet items.

Generous Neighbors

Generous neighbors and local businesses supply in-kind donations. Church members and Friendly Faces Day Care tend a vegetable garden and donate fresh produce. Financial contributions help us fill the gaps on our shelves so we can stock people's own kitchens.

Volunteer Run

The pantry, which is volunteer-run, is open on the first Wednesday of each month, from 9 am to noon and 5 to 7 pm, or by appointment. Non-perishable in-kind donations may be dropped off at any time at the church: 135 Myrtle Ave., Havertown, next door to the historic Grange Estate.

Being a Light

Former pantry manager Lynn Major said, "Each and every person, whether someone needing help or someone offering help, is touched by the love and care from St. James. This ministry continues to be a light in the world.”
