Disability Services for Delco Families: Success is in the Journey

When a family has a child with a disability, navigating the process of meeting their therapeutic and educational needs is a journey. At Easterseals of Southeastern PA, we meet families where they are. From infancy through preschool, we are the resource of choice. In the community and our schools, our success is in the success of the children and families we serve.

At Easterseals of Southeastern PA's Delaware County location, last year we served 170 children with high-quality pre-school services and the therapies they need to thrive. Including: 1,827 hours of occupational therapy, 1,253 hours of physical therapy, and 2,323 hours of speech therapy.

Meet Delaware County Ambassadors:

Chris and Evelyn

Chris loves to be on the move and he’s always perfecting new
skills to support that passion
. This charming four-year-old has developmental
delays and has overcome quite a few medical challenges. We are pretty confident
that is a result of both his love of people and impressive determination.

Last year, Chris began attending Easterseals Approved Private School. Since then he has started sitting by himself, is more mobile and his communication skills are
improving. Did we mention he’s bilingual? He loves music therapy and mastering
new equipment that gets him moving.

When he’s not at school, Chris is good at getting his family to play cars with him. He has a true passion for Blippi and listening to music with his mom. But above all else, he loves to be with
people. A favorite activity is hanging out with his family in the garage and
connecting with everyone in the neighborhood. With his love of making people
laugh, positive energy, and generosity with his smiles, it is easy to see why
people are drawn to him.

At five-years-old, Everly seems to have an intrinsic
understanding of the power of inclusion.
Everly has a rare genetic disorder and
began receiving home-based therapeutic support when she was two-weeks old. When
it was time to start a center-based program, she began attending the Approved
Private School program at Easterseals. Once she started, she was a force to be reckoned with. Everly quickly began mastering the use of her wheelchair, talking and socializing more. She even began helping her friends to talk. The next year, Everly transitioned to the Friendship Academy, Easterseals inclusive
preschool program.

Like many parents, her mom was nervous she might not be able
to keep up, but Everly quickly demonstrated how it could help her grow. She’s continuing to grow in all areas and is making even more friends. The playground is the best part of school for this social butterfly! Whether she’s at home or at school, she has a passion for crafts and playing with dolls. Her favorite movie is Frozen and her favorite food is….broccoli! Everly has a light that seems to shine from within and her generosity of spirit allows those around her to bask in it. We can’t wait for you to meet this gentle leader!
