The Chester Lead Task Force was born out of a commitment from the Swarthmore Black Alumni Network (SBAN) to the City of Chester. Our coalition includes government agencies, schools, public health and healthcare organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and dedicated advocates who are all working to protect families from lead exposure and environmental harm.
There is no safe level of lead. Even tiny amounts cause learning difficulties, speech delays and ADHD in children. In adults, lead exposure leads to kidney disease, heart disease and Alzheimer's disease. In a city facing dangerously high asthma and infant mortality rates, and now without a hospital, the Chester Lead Task Force is leading through education, advocacy, and action.
Your support helps us provide food and housing for families who are temporarily displaced while lead remediation and abatement work is completed in their home.
