ABOUT VOICE & VISION: EMPOWERING YOUTH, ADULTS, & FAMILIES

One of the most empowering opportunities for people affected by mental health, substance use disorders, and disabilities is to have their voice heard through sharing their experiences with programs and service delivery systems and providing recommendations for change.

For more than 25 years, VOICE & VISION’s board and staff have worked with creative diligence to gather the voices of individuals and families, provide systems advocacy, and offer individualized support. Our work empowers individuals and families in Southeastern Pennsylvania who experience challenges with mental health, addictions, or disabilities to find their voice and live their vision.

We are trailblazers in creating programs and thinking outside the box because that’s often how we overcome our own challenges. We approach our work with a commitment to excellence and a focus on continuous improvement. Our strategies are designed not only to meet the needs of today but to anticipate the needs of tomorrow. Our methods are rooted in advocacy, ensuring people gain access to the knowledge and resources they need. We empower individuals to share their voice, hope, and gifts with others—because we believe every voice matters and that connecting with others fosters healing and wellness.

At VOICE & VISION, every staff member has firsthand experience with mental health or addiction challenges, physical or intellectual disabilities, or is a family member of someone living with these challenges. This lived experience grants us a profound understanding of the hope, resilience, and connections essential for overcoming obstacles and living a healthy, fulfilling life.

OUR MISSION

Through compassionate listening, education, and mentoring, Voice and Vision, Inc. encourages our peers to thrive and live fulfilling lives. We influence change in human service systems and the broader community so people living with mental health challenges, addictions, and/or disabilities have the needed support and opportunities to live out their dreams.

OUR VISION

We envision a world where people living with mental health challenges, addictions, and/or disabilities are valued for their gifts, strengths, and experience.

In pursuit of this vision, we desire that:

  • Our staff and volunteers are seen as advocates and champions of hope.
  • Our services provide tools, resources, and education that lead to the creation of welcoming communities.
  • Our data collection and recommendations challenge human service systems to reimagine and transform services towards a wholistic perspective that addresses community needs and assists people in pursuing their dreams.

Two VOICE & VISION programs, Compeer and CompeerCORPS, help people with mental health challenges in Delaware County build friendships, overcome isolation, and maintain long-term recovery by fostering one-to-one, co-equal friendships that offer a unique social support network beyond traditional treatment. These friendships are built on shared interests such as walking, hobbies, and attending events, while spending time in the community. This one on one time is coupled with engaging group activities which help to reduce isolation, strengthen community connections, and dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health recovery. Since 1994, Compeer has been a beacon of hope in Delaware County.

VOICE & VISION’s Untold Valor Podcast: Reaching veterans with a message of recovery and hope

Now in its forth season and over 60 episodes, The Untold Valor: Veterans Recovery in Action Podcast focuses on veterans with stories of courage, recovery, perseverance, and strength. Veterans share their perspectives on what it is like to battle mental health challenges, combat addictions, and overcome other adversities unique to those who served. Experts experienced in working with veterans present information and practical tools to help with the recovery journey. Our goal is for every listener who is not a veteran to learn more about the aftereffects of military service and find new ways to support and honor those who served.
