Invest in a More Sustainable Delaware County!

Since its founding in 2021, the Delaware County Office of Sustainability has been working to build a healthier, more resilient community – one that is prepared to adapt to the challenges of climate change while improving quality of life for all residents.

In 2023, we released Sustain Delco: A Sustainability Plan for Delaware County—a first-of-its-kind roadmap shaped by more than 840 community members. This plan outlines over 290 actions across six focus areas: Climate Resilience, Natural Resources, Transportation, Energy and Efficiencies, Zero Waste, and Health and Wellness. It is not just a vision—it is a commitment to action.

And we are already delivering results, such as:

  • Removing over 10,000 lbs from the waste stream through our Campaign Sign Recycling Events
  • Launching the County’s first Tree Canopy Study to guide smarter, high-impact plantings
  • Jump-starting a compost program at Capozzoli’s Catering in the Government Center which has diverted over 14 tons of food waste
  • Integrating climate resilience into emergency planning efforts
  • Mobilizing hundreds of volunteers to beautify public spaces through Keep Delco Beautiful
  • Partnering with neighboring counties to secure more sustainable, cost-effective energy

These efforts are guided by our core values – Economic Sustainability, Education, Governance, and Equity, Inclusion, and Justice.

Why Your Support Matters

One of the most powerful ways we bring these values to life is through YOUR SUPPORTThis year, more than ever, sustainability offices and environmental organizations are feeling the pressure after a loss of recognition and support at a federal level and uncertainty of funding. With donor support, the Office of Sustainability can continue offering top-tier community engagement and support, which allows for accessible sustainability education and positive community collaboration.

This year, we are seeking to raise $5,000 to fully fund the event through community support.

Your donations will help us fund three specific initiatives this year:

  1. Supporting the Annual Delaware County Sustainability Conference, an event that convenes over 300 residents, professionals, and advocates to learn, connect, and take action. We believe this knowledge should be free and accessible to everyone.
  2. Starting up new supply-sharing initiatives with the Delco Libraries called “Team Up to Clean Up”, which provides litter clean-up kits to all 28 Delaware County libraries and creating a supply sharing-shed encouraging community stewardship to Keep Delco Beautiful.
  3. Enhancing community engagement through interactive hands-on activities and events, this includes funding for supplies like paint and brushes, which allow us to have interactive displays like “building a birdhouse from a milk carton” at tabling events and hosting a collaborative learning day to amplify the efforts of our volunteer Sustainability Commission.

At a time when sustainability funding is shrinking and critical programs are often seen as optional, your contribution sends a powerful message: that Delaware County is committed to a sustainable, equitable future.

Your donation fuels a movement!

YOUR SUPPORT ensures that residents have access to education, resources, and opportunities to be part of the solution. It strengthens community resilience. And it demonstrates that local action, backed by community investment, can drive meaningful change.

We invite you to be part of this work.

Thank you for supporting a more sustainable Delaware County.
