Our Story
Scott Arboretum & Gardens encompasses the idyllic campus of Swarthmore College with 350+ acres of beautiful gardens, diverse plant collections, and hiking trails. Free and open to the public from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year, Scott Arboretum & Gardens offers some of the most intimate, authentic, and accessible horticultural experiences in Delaware County. Established in 1929 as a living memorial to Arthur Hoyt Scott (Swarthmore Class of 1895), the mission of the Scott Arboretum & Gardens is to delight, educate, and inspire visitors to enjoy the many benefits of horticulture, whatever their resources or expertise. It's the perfect place for adults, families, and children to enjoy the beauty of nature.
