Honor Their Service. Help Us Keep Their Stories Alive.

Just off West Chester Pike in Newtown Square, nine eighteen-foot granite columns rise from the ground — one for every American war from the War of 1812 through the conflicts in the Middle East. The Delaware County Veterans Memorial isn't just a place to pause and remember. It's a living tribute to the men and women from our community who answered the call, and a gathering place for the families, neighbors, and students who carry their legacy forward.

Memorial Overview

  • Nine 18-foot granite columns, each representing a different American war or conflict — from the War of 1812 to the wars in the Middle East.
  • Visitors are invited to take a reflective walk around the memorial, learning the historical context and sacrifices behind each column.

Your gift keeps this ground sacred and active year-round. It supports the Casket Flag Raising Ceremonies held every month from April through November, where flags that once draped a veteran's casket are raised again in their honor. It helps us host the Freedom Medal Dinner, our annual gala recognizing veterans and civilians whose service has shaped Delaware County. It sustains our Flag Day celebration and retirement ceremony, our wreath-layings, and the quiet, reflective walks that happen here every single day.

And it funds something we believe matters just as much: our work with local schools. Every year, students walk these grounds, learn the history behind each column, and hear the stories of the people who served. For many of them, it's the first time the word "veteran" becomes a real person instead of an abstraction. That's the kind of impact your donation makes possible.

There are a few ways to leave your mark here.

Freedom Medal Dinner

  • The memorial's signature annual gala.
  • Distinguished veterans and civilians are honored for exceptional service to the community and unwavering support of those who served.
  • A night of recognition and camaraderie that brings our community together around a shared purpose.

Buy-A-Brick

  • Leave a lasting legacy by personalizing a brick in honor of a loved one, a unit, or a generation of service — a permanent piece of the memorial with your family's name on it.

A gift today goes directly toward programs, maintenance, and education. If you'd like something more permanent, our Buy-A-Brick program lets you personalize a brick in honor of a loved one, a unit, or a generation of service — a lasting piece of this memorial with your family's name on it.

Every contribution, large or small, helps us make sure that the sacrifices made on our behalf are never forgotten, and that the next generation grows up understanding what that word really means.

Thank you for standing with us.
