After the news headlines of a gun violence incident, what happens to the victims and survivors?

How can a community heal the unseen scars of trauma?

Chester Community Coalition is a Resource for Care

Chester Community Coalition supports individuals and families impacted by gun-related violence in the city of Chester and Delaware County through individual and family therapy in hospital and community settings.  Our work provides comprehensive support to foster help, healing, and hope.

Founded in 2016 by Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant activists, Chester Community Coalition uses trauma-informed approaches to address the emotional scarring and grief experienced by those affected by gun-related violence.

Each year, we serve nearly 250, completely free of charge, from across Delaware County with a range of tailored services and support to help individuals, youth, families, and communities address trauma for empowerment and healing.

Our services include:

**Rapid response to families when they need it most:  Case management is offered to ensure that survivors and families have access to essential resources, including financial support for bereavement, and transportation.  CCC continues this support for as long as survivors and families need it.

**Comprehensive therapy for individuals, families and groups:  Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for processing trauma, navigating grief and rebuilding emotional well-being.

**Relevant prevention programming for young people:  Teen Mental Health Workshops and Teen Mental Health First Aid, equipping young individuals with essential skills to support their peers' mental well-being.   CCC’s Boxing and Basketball evening programs engage youth through sports activation, social and emotional mentoring, and positive peer networking.

**Placed-based Trauma and Wellness counseling and support:  CCC therapy programs are adaptable, relatable and accessible, bringing trauma-informed care to work places and community sites throughout the region.

**Advocacy and community building:  In June of every year, CCC leads the annual city-wide Chester Peace Walk to advance the critical importance of violence prevention through collective fellowship and action.  The gathering features keynote speakers, survivors, and advocates celebrating our city’s progress in this work, while honoring those lost and or harmed by gun violence.
