Our Story

Launched in October 2016, I Am My Sister's Keeper, (IAMMSK), was founded in Wilmington, Delaware by Charlotte Miller-Lacy with a mission to guide the next generation of young girls to reach their highest potential.  Since its inception, IAMMSK has expanded to neighboring states and grown to four chapters with Chester, Pennsylvania as its first expansion chapter.

In 2018, the Chester branch of the IAMMSK organization was formed by Pastor Tina Robbins of Life in Christ Ministries after attending a community event sponsored by IAMMSK. Pastor Robbins was immediately inspired and motivated to join Charlotte Miller-Lacy in her quest to empower and support young girls. As a result of her experience, the Chester chapter was "birthed" into existence.

The Chester Chapter is approaching its eighth year in existence. Throughout our years, we have impacted the lives of over 40 girls in the Chester area and surrounding communities. This program year, (2025-2026), we experienced a 25 percent (25%) increase in our program participation and expect to see another increase for our upcoming program year, which commences in the fall. Graduates of our program have attended 4-year colleges and universities. Two have graduated with bachelor degrees, one is a college junior, one is a college sophomore, and two are currently college freshmen. Additionally, some have enlisted in the United States Army and others are gainfully employed.

Our dynamic enrichment and programming activities including life skills and leadership development, STEAM-centered activities, presentations, workshops, field trips, retreats, community service projects, and team-building activities, IAMMSK builds self-esteem, leadership, self-confidence, and self-awareness in young girls so that they can emerge into the best version of themselves as they transition into adulthood.

Our community involvement and projects include the following:

  • Chester Thanksgiving Giveback Feeding Event
  • Delaware County Housing Authority Fairgrounds Holiday Celebration - Toy Donation and Service
  • Autism Awareness Walk
  • Earth Day Projects with the Ruth L. Bennett Community Farm
  • Historic Green Lawn Cemetery Restoration Project
  • Toy Drive for the Salvation Army
  • Martin Luther King Day of Service
  • Volunteer at Belvedere Nursing Home
  • Food Insecurity activities including serving and feeding the homeless in conjunction with Life in Christ Ministries & The Salvation Army

With your help and support, I Am My Sister's Keeper - Chester can continue to expand its focus on the empowerment of young girls and women and help them build character, self-esteem, love of community and sisterhood.

Thank you for your support.
